Project Description:Complete mixed-use city center district redevelopment; Ongoing project including: goal of individual-building LEED certifications throughout; dense fully mixed-use redevelopment of an urban brownfield retired railway and industrial site adjacent to the city's historic core; reconstructed walkable street network designed to limit solar heat gain in commercial buildings while maximizing natural daylighting in residential uses; direct connection to and modernization of the city's public transit network of urban railway, metro, and trams, including realignment of tram lines to provide more thorough service, new metro vestibules, and new commuter rail connections, coordinated with the public transit authority; expansion of the recreational and on-street cycle path network; minimized parking allowance, to be located primarily in below grade structured decks; commitment to sustainably designed individual buildings; establishment of large scale public park spaces coordinated with a government proposed biocorridor system; onsite rooftop solar energy generation combined with green roofs; high-efficiency district heating network; separated district stormwater collection and attenuation system; district vacuum waste collection system with centralized collection facility.
